Goslings!

We came home last week to goslings! Ms. Toulouse had successfully hatched out four, her first time ever and she is 5 years old! Jessie (daughter-in-law) gave her to us when we were still living in Montana. One of the other white geese had hatched out one gosling but we didn’t see that one for a couple of days as she was still sitting on her nest. Later in the week, the gosling decided to adopt Ms. Toulouse as her mama. I wasn’t sure whether it was going to survive as Papa Goose was not happy with this intrusion but the little gosling stood its ground and has now integrated into its new family.

As for the other two female geese, as you can see by this pic, they are still sitting on their nest. Not quite sure what is going on. Did they lay new eggs? We’ll just have to wait and see!

The two geese out with their babies are VERY protective. They do not attack us but will hiss. However if the sheep or Duke go anywhere near them then they attack and it is quite amusing to watch!
