Hannah’s surgery went well :)
Thank you all SO much for your thoughts and prayers today. They were very much appreciated. Richard and Hannah had to be at the hospital by 5:30am! She was understandably very nervous but had a great team of nurses around her. She went back for surgery at 8am and the first incision was at 9:10am. They had to put a rod/rods & screws in from T2 to L1 which is 12 vertebrae! Richard has asked for a copy of the x-ray they took before sewing her back up so that we can see a ‘before’ and ‘after’ shot. By 12:45pm surgery was complete but Richard did not get back to see her until around 2:30pm. He stayed with her until around 8pm and then came home. It has been a LONG day for him.
Hannah was frustrated that she wasn’t allowed to get up today but she has two wound drains, catheter etc. still in place. Those should all be removed tomorrow and then she will be able to start moving around. The surgeon said that surgery went well.
What have Caleb and I been doing today? I took him over to Hermann, Missouri up on the Missouri River to go stay with some friends that we met at Treasure Lake a couple years ago. Caleb and Rich formed a really strong bond and both love to metal detect. Caleb is going to spend the next couple days up there so he will have a lot of fun.
The plan is for me to go be with Hannah in the morning and Richard will come in the afternoon.
Once again “THANK YOU”. I will keep you updated as the week progresses,
Liz
