One hundred and three chicks!
Gone nuts again?! Probably! BUT……..
Great excitement here yesterday when we got the call that the chicks had arrived at the Post Office. Off we all traipsed (bar Richard) to go pick them up. Yes I know we brought 60 chickens with us but we needed more for spring laying just in case we lose some. We are hoping to feed the pigs alot of the eggs. Eggs are a very good protein source not to mention a cheap one when not having to buy the eggs so 60 is really not enough for all the pigs we have. This is a straight run of Heavy Breeds – not quite sure what we have – time will tell. For now they are here in the house by the kitchen window where the sun shines in eliminating the need for a heat lamp. As you can see Bella is watching them closely! They won’t be able to stay in here long – haven’t quite decided where to put them but for now the children can enjoy them.
Daniel & Caleb are looking so proud of themselves in this pic:
Of course Caleb is not gentle but thankfully he’s only managed to pick up a couple. (Poor things have to be rescued quickly from him.) Today he leaned over a bit too far & started going in head first until I pulled him out. His pride was more hurt than his actual body.
Caleb’s other new trick this week is flushing the toilet! Oh the joys of little children as they learn the “fun” things in life.
That’s it from me for now – hope you all have a great weekend.

Hey Liz & Co.,
I’m glad to see you guys made the move to MO okay. It looks like you all are really settling in.
I’ve been totally out of the loop farm-wise for almost a month now. I had to come up for air!
Glad you all are doing well. We’ll be in Seymour, MO week after next at the Powerflex Fence Co. Customer appreciation event. I’m not sure if you guys are busy, but it is on Oct 22 and 23. If you are close it would be nice to meet you and Rich.
God Bless for now.

Look at how big (and cute) Caleb is getting, and Daniel too. I enjoy reading about the joys of having toddlers. So happy you are posting regular once again. You need to invest in a Livestock Guardian Dog to guard all your chickens and ducks. I know you have lots of dogs now, but they seem to want to “eat” the ducks/chickens rather than protect them. I read a couple of blogs about Livestock Guardian Dogs. One is bred/trained to protect ducks, the other guards sheep. I thought of you right away when I came across the blog about dogs protecting ducks.
