Stirring up a wasps nest!

At the beginning of the season we were pretty sure we had cut enough wood for winter. A couple of weeks ago we knew we were going to have to cut more 🙁 Last week was so busy that there was no time plus we had really hoped the snow would melt off. Hah! That was not to be so this morning we headed out through the ice and snow and cut down two trees. We had purposefully left three dead trees standing up in one of the pastures close to the house so that if we did run out, we did not have to go far to cut wood. This was the first one to come down and the main reason we had left this tree standing was that there was a wasps nest in it! Today was the perfect day to deal with them! They were really sleepy when Richard cut into the downed tree so we were able to stomp on them.
When we went out first the ground was SO shimmery from where freezing rain had come down on top of the snow. Very pretty but until a little slippery until it started melting. A warm fire was started to burn up all the little twigs etc.
Feels good to know that we now have enough wood should the cold weather continues like it appears. We had hoped to get the camper washed, stocked and ready to go this week but that isn’t going to happen. Looking forward to getting out in it once the warmer weather arrives!
Take care,
Liz
