What do you do when life doesn’t seem fair?
So what do YOU do when life doesn’t seem fair? Richard made the statement “Life just isn’t fair sometimes” a couple weeks ago when we learned that a gal that had completed her homestudy a while after us was recently handed a precious baby girl. Our neighbors are busy packing up this weekend ready for their move early next week, yet another thing we want to do. Of course we wish these folks all the best and are excited about what is happening in their lives and certainly do not bear a grudge.
One of my uncles, in England, is in hospital with Guillain Barre syndrome having lost the total use of his legs at this time. Earlier I spoke with my aunt, his wife, to get an update and learned that she had been in a serious car accident on Wednesday evening. She was coming home from visiting him and fell asleep at the wheel. Rolled her car & ended up in a hedge. She had to be cut out by the paramedics and it is a total miracle that she did not break anything. In her words “God’s angels were watching over me!” A friend, Karen, had a double mastectomy yesterday for breast cancer. Another friend had a lumpectomy earlier this week for breast cancer which has returned after many years.
Now please do not think we are down in the dumps as we are not. When thinking about what to write on the blog today as we were out on our walk, these thoughts came to me so I thought I would share them with you. Maybe you are in a place right now where life just doesn’t seem fair. So what do we do? What can you do? Count your blessings!
- Richard came home safe this morning after a 48 hr shift.
- We were able to enjoy a nice walk in the brisk wind.
- We have a roof over our heads and food on our table 🙂
- I was able to wash all the floors today.
- We have five beautiful children and a lovely daughter-in-law
- We have two beautiful grand daughters so far and guess what? Number 3 should be born on Monday! Yes, Jessie is going to be induced early Monday morning so is hoping that Miss Renzi Nicole will be out by lunchtime!
- SO many other blessings but you get my drift here 🙂 Counting your blessings really does lift you up.
Now if you are wondering what the picture is of, I am not surprised but it is too precious story not to share with you. Yes, Richard has just cleaned his phone camera lens as once again we were out and I did not have my camera with me!AAGH! This is a picture of a lamb, about 2 weeks old. She was born on a friend’s farm when it was really cold and for some reason got frostbite in her hind legs. The joints swelled up & our friend took her to the vet who said he really did not want to put her down as, unusually for a lamb, she had spunk! That lamb is incredible. As you can see in the picture she is walking, yes walking, on her front two legs. To watch her nearly brings tears to your eyes. She has never had a bottle, fed off of her mama from the beginning and if she cannot quite get in position Mama moves to the right position. She is no longer in pain & the hope is that maybe as she grows she will get some use of those legs back. What an example of counting your blessings! That lamb is determined to live and thrive (she’s big) despite what life has thrown at her.
Take care,
Liz
