Lakeview Beach, Lake Erie, Ohio
Yesterday afternoon we drove over to Lorain, OH to Lakeview Beach. With plenty of parking and a decent size “beach” it was nice for a walk and some fresh air. I can imagine that this place is teeming in the summer. You are able to swim here but only when lifeguards are present!
To us Brits, brought up by the ocean, it was REALLY weird seeing snow along the water’s edge not to mention all the big chunks of ice floating in the water. Not only that there was snow on the rock barriers out in the water. You would never see that in England as the tides would wash any snow away each day. Richard made mention that the smell of saltwater was missing and he was SO right. It didn’t smell like you were beside the sea. All of the above is observation not complaint. It is amazing that two large areas of water can be alike in some way but really totally different. My one “complaint” would be that you are not allowed to climb on the rocks. On a British beach that is part of the fun, climbing the rocks, looking in saltwater rock pools etc. HOWEVER when I walked up to the rocks (yes, I got close!) it was VERY obvious why walking on them would be dangerous. Unlike the rocks beside the sea that are continually pounded and rounded by the ocean these massive rocks were just placed there and have large holes in between them.
Pre-ops were done this morning. All good. Now to meet with the surgeon tomorrow.
We did get the truck checked out yesterday. The diesel tech discovered that there is something wrong with the fifth gear in the transmission! Due to the time needed to pull the transmission out etc. we are NOT getting it fixed here. It it still driveable so we will bring it back to Branson and then take it to our dealer in Springfield. The good news about all of this is that a) the problem has come to light and b) the truck is still under warranty so we will not have to pay the bill!
I’ll be back in touch after surgery to let you all know how things went.
Love,
Liz
