Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery
You never know who you are going to meet in a day! One day this past week the weather was too cool for swimming so we decided to take a visit to the Shepherd of the Hills fish hatchery here in Branson. Caleb’s friend, Kergin, was with us.
This fun activity is FREE! They have a small museum which features turtles, lizards, snakes etc. Don’t miss the two headed snake that is very much alive! Cool! Of course they have plenty of fish to look at also. The thousands and thousands of fish out in the tanks can be fed. If you forget your quarters for the feed, don’t worry as front desk will gladly change your dollars for you.
Whilst I was watching kids in two different areas I spotted a World War II veteran sat on a chair. (If you know anything at all about Branson, it is the fact that it is VERY respectful of veterans of all ages.) I genuinely thanked the gentleman for his service, asking him if he had celebrated the recent 75th anniversary. Admittedly I did not quite understand his reply but did understand when he went on to say that he had lost his wife last year but that they had been married 75 years! Wow! I totally agreed with him when he continued to say that most don’t make that landmark. Whilst I offered my condolences on the loss of his wife I also congratulated him for such a record. 75 years! What a blessing!
Meeting that gentleman truly brightened my day. What stories he must have to share. Our paths met for just a few minutes but that encounter is one I will not forget.
Blessings,
Liz
