A Productive Morning
Just like us, I am sure you get some days where you feel that you have been way more productive than others. Well this morning was one of those “days” for us. A few days ago, when discussing what we were going to cook for Christmas lunch, we decided on fresh lamb. (No you are not looking at the ‘butchered” lambs in the picture. I took this pic after the deed 🙂 ) Richard is an excellent shot when it comes to taking an animal down. He watches them very carefully as sometimes they do not stand still for very long so he has to be quick & accurate to take them down in one shot each. I know, for some of you this grosses you out, but honestly I do not make any apologies. The meat that is purchased from stores has many times been much more stressed before the end. Ours are not chased, prodded. ill treated etc. Part of Richard’s breakfast prayer today was being thankful for God’s provision. Not having to purchase meat saves us a LOT of money, not only that but we know what we are eating is healthy.
With the ram and wether (castrated ram) skinned, gutted & in the cooler it was time to come in for showers. After that Richard worked at getting the 3rd batch of soap going whilst I did the printing & laminating of details for a new ‘For Sale” sign. Someone (we think a realtor thinking it belonged to the folks who listed with him down the road) had removed ours quite a while ago & we had not gotten around to putting a new one up. With the place looking tidy now after finishing the brush hogging by the road it was time to put a new sign up.
The kids had broken two of the three toilet seats so it was also time to replace them! Of course it only made sense to clean the bathrooms at the same time and whilst doing two it seemed silly not to clean the other one so that took a while but now all is clean & nobody is going to fall off the loo 🙂
Finally sat down to Roast Beef & all the trimmings at 2:30pm. We’re “done” for the day & waiting for the cold weather & rain to come in. It was glorious out there this morning – 60F so perfect weather for doing what we had to do. Makes the job much more pleasant when the weather is mild & there are no flies.
Take care,
Liz
